Potty Training Update

So, the whole "let them do it on their own" thing really has worked for Miss Aliyah.

We introduced her to the potty MONTHS ago and she was just never ready.

Last week she all of a sudden decided she wanted to go. I was gone, but she told Jace and she ran to the potty and went. Just like that.

Well, today she has only had 1 accident and she even went #2! YAY!!!

I'm scared to go out in public with her though. I'm afraid the unfamiliar surroundings will scare her and she'll have an accident or she'll just forget to go.

So, what do people who have newly potty trained human's do when they leave the house.

Help please. :)

To my WIFE

So...I have this friend...

And we've been friends for as long as I can remember.

Her name is Elise...I call her Eesie (Don't really know how to spell it, but it's pronounced E.C.)

Our families lived 2 houses away from each other on a little road called Crown Street. Then my family moved to West Jordan when I was almost 4 and a little while later my friends' family moved 2 houses down. :)

We were meant to be friends.

In fact, my big sister was friends with Eesie's big sister. And my little sister was friends with her little sister.

Well, in 4th grade my family moved away to Fruit Heights and Eesie's family never followed.

Sad times.

But...despite the distance...and the fact that we are both TERRIBLE at keeping totally connected we are still friends.

Love it!

She happened to be down in St. George for work this last week and called me. I'm so glad we got together. She got to meet my kids. All grown up and everything. :)

I feel bad we don't keep better connected. The last time I saw Eesie was the day my little sis got married and Xander was 2 weeks old. That's almost been 2 years! Way too long.

So, thanks for coming to breakfast with me and the munchkins!

So glad we're still friends!

And this last picture was too funny not to include. We were trying to get a good pic while my camera was sitting on the trunk of a car. We were totally squatting (0bviously) and it was funny so we're both laughing. Could you imagine if someone looked out their hotel window and saw this:

Good times.

I think it's safe to say

that Aliyah is officially OFF the binki!!!

This has been a tough one for us. We already tried once...and after 3 months of her not going to sleep unless she was being held, waking up multiple times in the night, and waking up super early I had to give in and buy another binki. My sanity depended on it.

This time around it was her fault the binki was gone. She bit so many holes in it I was surprised it was still being held together.

So, a few weeks ago I told her the binki was broken and she should probably throw it away because it didn't work. She refused to even think it wasn't working. She told me...with an attitude in her voice, "NO. It's not broken, Mom."

So I left it at that.

Last week, she was biting her binki and pulling on it. I told her again that it was broken and she knew what to do with broken things. So, she got off the couch and walked right over to the trash and threw it away. Just like that.

She asked for it once at bed time and hasn't mentioned it once since.

Phew.

This was a much better experience than last time.

Now...if I could just get her to think that peeing in the potty was her idea then we'd really be getting somewhere. :)

{happy}

Little Miss has now gone tinkle in the potty 3 times!!! YAY! (We won't mention the 2 accidents she had in between success numbers 2 and 3...)

She's been VERY motivated by all the candy she gets when she goes potty. Whatever works. :)

I'm Amazing

Some people might not think this is so cool, but I find it amazing.

My whole life I remember wanting to french braid. So not hard for some people. I always envied my friends who could not only french braid, but french braid their OWN hair. Sigh...the hard life that I lead.

But I remember trying to braid some of my dolls' hair. For the life of me I could not do it. I got the concept, but it just never looked right.

Well, yesterday I tried it out again. On a 2 year old. Some might think that wasn't so smart because 2 year olds move. And you would be right. It probably wasn't. But here are the results:

Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

On another note:
We finally took the front off of Aliyah's crib. Jace is too cheap to buy her a big girl bed and I was set on getting her out of a crib. So I guess this was a good comprimise...for now.

Here she is with Xander. She is so proud of her "new" bed. She kept telling me to take more pictures.

And on a completely other note:
I just have to say I'm glad to be skinny. Not to toot my own horn...or sound vain...but my sis-in-law came over yesterday to borrow some maternity clothes. As I was going through my tote of HUGE clothing I just could not believe I was THAT huge. It was a shocker to me. So, my goal for the next pregnancy (don't worry people...that's not gonna happen for a while) is to not let myself get so big. Now I understand all people gain weight and it is completely healthy. But this time I'm not just gonna let myself go.

That's all.

Hope you enjoyed.

Fun Tag

I haven't been tagged in a while...and actually, I haven't seen anyone who's been tagged in a while. I guess that's kind of dying down.

However...Ashley tagged me so of course I want to participate.

All you do is google what you need and type the first 5 things that come up. For example I type: "Anne Needs" and my response is...

1} ...no man (but it sure is fun to have one around) - don't really know what that means...
2} ...to win sexiest veg!
3} ...to retire.
4} ...no enhancement (they obviously haven't seen me lately.) :(
5} ...help. - now this one's true. With a hubby at work all day and school all night I sure could use a little help now and then. :)

Well that was fun.

Now it's your turn.

I now tag: Jealin, Christy, Tyra, and Hillary

Nudist

Xander has a BAD rash right now. So, to alleviate him we let him roam naked. Then he had to have his shoes on. He was pretty funny. Why is it when boys are naked they are SO much happier?

It's mid 80's

...and this is what my kids want to wear.

Would someone tell them it's not winter. They won't listen to me. Actually, Aliyah tried to put a jacket on too. She said it was "too cold" outside. I don't think she gets the whole temperature thing. :)

had to blog this

Aliyah is just getting to be so funny with the things she says.

A few days ago it was REALLY windy (we were at the park). Well, my hair was coming out of the ponytail so I took it out to re-do it. Aliyah saw this and came running to me and said:

"Mommy, quick...grab your hair! It's blowin' away!"

The things a 2 year old says...it just cracks me up. :)
