nightstand makeover

So, I bought this beaut at the DI a couple months ago.

I just got around to re-doing it. A couple coats of primer and spray paint and some new hardware and this guy is really happy.

Doesn't he look happy?

I let Xander pick the color since it will be in his room. I gave him 3 options that will match his bedding and his pick was green. It's actually a little darker in real life.

I really love how this turned out.

Hopefully I can find a dresser to makeover now. :)

He's grown up so much in the last 3 years! I can't believe he's 3 already! (Maybe if I write it a few more times it won't seem so weird.)

Here's some info on my little man.

• weighs 35 lbs
• 39.5 inches
• Loves to watch TV. His favorite shows are: Dinosaur Train, Curious George, Thomas & Friends, Super Why, Backyardigans, Diego, & Max & Ruby.
• Will practically eat anything. He really loves lettuce and anything healthy :)
• Says either instead of too. (ex: I like that either.)
• Can't say his L sound so it comes out as a Y. (Aliyah had the same problem.)
• Is a total boy and loves to play outside and get dirty
• But, also not afraid to show his feminine side and dress like a princess. (A problem we're still trying to address.)
• Favorite color changes every day. Right now it's pink.
• Such a sweet kid. He knows when I need a hug and will give them freely.
• Loves to make new friends. Very outgoing.
• He loves to go swimming.
• Favorite thing about Sunday is going to nursery. He looks forward to it all week.
• Really into spiderman right now.

Well, that's a lot of random things about my man, but I think the most important is that he is loved by his whole family. We're so happy that this bundle of boy could be in our family!

Sunday Funnies

On Sunday mornings if the kids want to watch TV they are only allowed to watch the church videos that we have.

So, Sunday morning Aliyah went and picked out "David and Goliath."

They watched in fascination as David killed Goliath with a single stone.

Then Jace said something about how Heavenly Father helped David because he was a good boy and chose the right.

I asked the kids if they thought Heavenly Father would help them if they needed it.

Aliyah's response? "I don't need help."

Xander's response? "Ya, when I kill Goliath Heavenly Father will help me."

California Trip Day 6

For our last day in California we went to Sea World!!! The kids were really excited to see Shamu (or Shampoo as Aliyah says). We have been watching youtube videos for months.

When we got there we found these guys:





Don't know who they are, but it was fun for a minute.

We got there right when the Shamu show "Believe" was going to start. So we literally ran to get there. Luckily, my Grandma is in a wheelchair so me and the kids sat with her and had some pretty good seats. The rest of the clan found some seats across the aisle from us, so it wasn't bad.

We took the kids to Sesame Street next.




So, my dad and I waited in line with the kids to go on a ride that is basically Dumbo with Elmo. I got to the front of the line when a worker there asked me if I was pregnant. I said Yes, (it sucks because you never know how you should answer in this situation) then she told me that I couldn't ride. WHAT! I told her that I just rode Dumbo like 2 days ago. She just said well, you can't ride this. That makes NO sense to me. All you're doing is going in a circle. Where's the danger in that? So, Jace got to take my place.

You can see how excited he was about that.

While walking around we found some Sea Lions

Next was the Sea Lion and Otter show. They did a spoof of different show. They had SLL (Sea Lions Live), CSI, So you think you can dance, and one more.

The kids needed to get out some energy after that, so we took them to the bounce area in Sesame Street. They had to wait in line for a long time, but they took advantage when they got in there.

The dolphin and bird show was up next. The kids were really excited to see it.

not sure what kind of dolphins these were, but they were huge!

Xander decided to be a pain about this time so we decided it was probably time for lunch.

After the kids were done eating they noticed birds all over the ground that were picking up crumbs. Aliyah has a thing for chasing birds. I don't know where it came from. So, they spent the next half hour chasing birds around and throwing them scraps of food.

On our way to the next destination we discovered sting rays. Jace and I took the kids down to have a look. They are one weird looking creature I'll say that. I wasn't about to put my hand in there with them, so I let Jace do it. He said they feel like rubber.

Then we found some sea stars. The kids were in heaven! Unfortunately, they didn't get to see them for very long. We were on our way to the Circe de Soleil show.

It was really weird, and short. But they acrobatics were pretty cool.

We had to go back to the sea stars after the show. The kids were absolutely fascinated by them. I wasn't such a fan of the FREEZING cold water they were in, so I opted out of touching them.

After playing with the sea stars the kids wanted to go back to Sesame Street and play on the nets. It was actually really good in getting their energy out. It took a lot to get to the top of all these nets.

After they got through all the nets and bridges they went down the twisty slide a couple times.

When they came out Xander wanted to play in the punching bags. So the kids waited in line and when they finally got to go in there one of the kids accidentally pushed a bag into Xander and knocked him over. He came running out crying and in hysterics. Luckily we calmed him down enough to go back in for the last 30 seconds.

After the punching bags it was time to go. I would've liked to stay a bit longer because it was our last day in California, but the kids were done.

So, we went back to the hotel and hung out, ate dinner and went to bed.

We were up super early the next day to get home. The drive was long, but we made good time. Actually, we did stop and help some people who had blown a tire. It was SO hot outside and they were on the side of the road rolling the tire in front of them. So we took them into Logandale to get the tire fixed and then had to take them back to their car. The sad thing was they were going to Vegas to get a part for their other car that they were fixing, and on the way the tire on this other car blew. They probably didn't end up saving money in the end. :(

Anyway, we made it home and now Disneyland is just a memory. We'll have to go back soon.
