Ladybug land

Our backyard is home to millions of these little guys. But I must say, I'd rather have these than other bugs. :)

happenings of April...so far

So much has happened this month and I've slacked off writing about it all, but not anymore! :)

4-1-11
So, my dad is a musician and therefore has a lot of musician buddies. One such buddy lives in Vegas and plays for some shows down there. Right now he is playing the Frank Sinatra show at the Wynn. He was able to get us some tickets, so we went down for the night with my parents and my sister and her husband. We ate at a little cafe in the Wynn and then headed for the show.

It was actually really good. There were dancers and there was a story going on through the dancing. They played songs like, "Fly Me to the Moon", "My Way", "Come Fly With Me", "Luck Be A Lady", "New York, New York"... And it was all going great. I thought there was no way they could really put the "Vegas" into a Frank Sinatra show. WRONG. He sings a song called "Makin' Whoopy" and all of a sudden all the dancers are ripping their clothes off. Very awkward. No nudity, all skivvies, but still...very awkward. And then the next song came and all the clothes were back on and it was like it didn't even happen. Very weird.

All in all, a good show though.

4-3-11
Xander finally got to try out his kite that he won at the Ducky Drop. He ran all over the backyard trying to get that kite up. And finally it flew for a few seconds.

4-7-11
Taya turned 5 months

4-11-11
The weather has been fabulous! So, I pulled out a water toy my kids got from a friend of mine last year. We never used it because we didn't really have a yard for the kids to play in.

4-17-11
The kids found the face paint and went to town. Take a look:

Xander was throwing a fit about something and had smeared the paint all over his face. He looked like another race.

As you can see, by the time Aliyah was finished it was all over her baby, all over her face, arms, legs, and feet. Crazy girl.

4-17-11
Jace bought an IPad for work/school and Xander was playing some games. It's hard to tell who's more intrigued by it...Xander or Taya.

4-13-11
I finally made pillows for my couches. Jace thinks I went a bit overboard, but I bought fabric to coordinate with my curtains - which have lots of color in them - and I loved all the different textures and fabrics I found. I couldn't stop.

4-18-11
We had an Easter egg hunt with some friends yesterday at the park. We got together and chatted and then the kids ran around the grass to find the eggs. (Jace has pics on his phone.) It was fun, and I know the kids had a good time.

conversations with Aliyah

A: Mom, why is Taya's bum so cute?

Me: Because it's so little and squishy.

A: I know it's so little and squishy. Is that why it's cute?

Me: Yah.

A: Mom, when I was in your tummy my bum was little and squishy, huh?

Me: It still is little and squishy.

A: No it's not! [said slightly appalled]

Me: It's not?

A: NO! It's squishy, but it's not little. It's big.

chubby, kissable cheeks

it ruins her whole day :(

Aliyah and Xander still adore her

ALWAYS giggles and laughs for Xander
still loves her binkie
trys to put her binkie in her mouth
has really found her voice and talks a lot...mostly very high pitched and squeaky :)

Xander

Earlier today I gave Xander a big hug. He got mad because I "squeezed his powers out of him." Woops.

I just asked Xander why I loved him so much. He said: "Umm, because I'm a genius?"
Yah, Buddy. That must be it. :)

And here he is giving himself a banana eyebrow. :)
Seriously, where does he come up with this stuff?

it's just a bit windy out

Growing up right by a mountain we would sometimes get East Winds. These winds would be so strong they would practically carry me down to the bus stop some mornings on my way to school. They would rock the whole house and always keep me up at night because the screen on my window would shake so much.

Well, today felt like an East Wind down here in Dixie. It has been SUPER windy today. I happened to look out the window to see my garbage can in my front yard and trash EVERYWHERE. (yay.) So I ran outside to try and grab as much of it as I could. I felt like a fool.

A few hours later I got a call from my next door neighbor asking me if our tramp was still in our back yard. I was a little surprised by the question and went to my window to look.

Yep, still there. Although a box had blown underneath it somehow and it looked like it was barely hanging on.

I asked her why and she said she just saw a tramp fly by her front window. What the... I had noticed the trampoline of the neighbor behind me was rockin a lot and wondered if it was theirs. So I went to check out the kitchen window. Theirs was still there, however it was on the other side of their house. Then she suggested the neighbor across the street from me. I went to the front window and yep. Their tramp was nowhere to be found. Darn it.

Their backyard is all fenced except for a little gateway. I don't understand how it could've flown over the fence. Unless it was blown all the way to the other side of their house and went through the bigger opening. Which I'm sure is what happened. A few hours later I looked outside to see a friend's husband from the street behind us helping my neighbor who lost the tramp bring it back.

Crazy wind.
