The stitches are gone!

Aliyah was such a good girl today when she got her stitches out. You can barely see the scar! - O yeah...she's better now. The doctor said it was probably just something intestinal. :(

Is something going around?

The last 4 days have not been the most pleasant. Aliyah woke up on Thursday just mopey and sad. Jace said he came into the bathroom where he was cutting his hair and she just laid down on the rug by his feet. By the time I got home from the gym she was laying on our bed, but you could tell she wasn't feeling well. A couple minutes later she threw up...luckily I was right by her and sensed it. We made it to the bathroom just in time. After her nap that day she was fine, jumping, playing, laughing. I just thought it was a little weird.
Friday the same thing happened. Only this time it was after breakfast. Not so pleasant. Then she was fine again. I asked Jace if he knew of something going around and this is what "Dr. Vernon" diagnosed...are you ready for this?...Morning Sickness. That's right. He's really good at diagnosing all sorts of problems. He'll be at a clinic near you soon. :)
Saturday she threw up once in the morning and then later at night and already today she's done it again. O - and it's coming out the other end too.
Sorry for being so graphic...but I was wondering if anyone knows of something going around that they could enlighten me on how long it lasts or anything would be helpful. She's not doing these things often enough to really make me worry yet, but we are keeping her hydrated. Any helpful advice would be great. :)

the circus!

Well, the circus came to town! I was excited to take the kids because we still haven't gotten to the zoo. It was a bummer it started so late...8:00...the kids bedtime. But it was a lot of fun. Xander had a hard time staying still so Jace had to walk him around in the stroller. But Aliyah loved sitting with Kate and they enjoyed watching the show. I think the "Performing Poodles" were Aliyah's favorite.



During "intermission" we went down and watched the elephants and took some pictures of the bear. He was huge!

Obsessions

Xander has some attachment issues. A while ago I posted about the spoon that he wouldn't let out of his sight. Now he has moved on to the broom. This kid is so funny with it. Whenever the pantry is open he takes the chance to steal the broom and then will push it (or pull it) around the house. What can I say...the kid loves to clean. Hopefully it will stay this way. :)

Yep...scorpions too.

The other day I was talking to one of my friends and she was telling me they really don't have any creatures that bug them except scorpions. She said they get lots of those.
I thought, "well, we might get lizards, snakes, and mice...but at least we don't have scorpions." Wrong. Yesterday morning I went in the garage to go to the gym and I saw what looked like a shadow. I bent down closer and it was a scorpion. Not just any scorpion...a big scorpion. I went inside and told Jace and he was just going to kill it with a shoe, but he just kept staring at it. Finally he said..."you better take a picture before I kill it." (He's learning.)
The scorpion was one I'd never seen before. Usually they're black, but this one was totally white/clearish. But then when Jace took the picture you could see black on his body, it was weird. I don't like that we have all these creepy animals everywhere.

Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad...week

Well, we'll just start out by saying it wasn't a good week to be Aliyah.

She has an extremely bad habit of climbing on everything. Lately she loves to climb up the changing table in the bathroom and play in the sink. Well, on Sunday, the 14th, I was doing dishes in the kitchen when I heard a loud thud and then a scream like I've never heard before. You guessed it. She fell off the counter and hit her head. It left a pretty good bump/bruise.



That finally got all healed up when today happened. We went swimming at Coral Canyon. We had only been there about 10 minutes when Aliyah ended up hitting her head on the side of the pool and had to go get stitches. It was kind of my fault and I still feel horrible about the whole thing. The worst was when they were stitching her up and she was screaming and kept yelling my name. :( I wasn't in the room because I knew I would feel even worse with people holding her down. She screamed so hard when he gave her the numbing shot that when the doctor actually got around to stitching her up she was asleep.

The nurse (who is actually her nurse with her real doctor) gave her about 8 stickers and a sucker for being so good. And on the way home we had to stop by Arctic Circle and get her an ice cream cone too. I just feel so bad. It makes you think, "if I would've just stayed in kiddie pool with Xander she would've been fine." or "Why did I think I needed to stop her, Jace could've got them both." I don't know, I'm probably just beating myself up over this, but I feel absolutely terrible.
She gets her stitches out in 10 days...that should be a lot of fun too. Sigh...

spur of the moment fun

So, last week my friend, Britnee, and I took the kids to the Vernon-Worthen Park. The kids had a lot of fun...especially on the swings. While we were there we decided we wanted to go to Vegas for the weekend. Just like that the plan was made, and on Friday we left.



Britnee's parents have a time share so we were able to get an awesome deal on a 2 room suite. Right when we got there on Friday afternoon we headed straight to the pool. There was a lazy river and an adult pool. But we ended up staying in the kiddie pool the whole time. I was fine with that. It was huge and we were the only ones in there.


Aliyah was crazy, like always, jumping in from the stair and from outside the pool. She's getting really good at holding her breath.




Xander just likes being anywhere. He is such a good baby...kid. And he was having fun going under the water and walking around.



After swimming we got all ready and headed to the Excalibur Buffet. It's Jace's favorite.



Then we walked the strip. I don't think you can go to Vegas without walking the strip. We started at the Excalibur and walked down to the Bellagio where we waited for 45 minutes for the water show. But it was fun to just be somewhere different with some friends. Xander didn't make it very long and slept through most of our walk.




After the Bellagio we kept walking to Mandalay Bay and took the kids to see the fish tank. I thought it was a lot bigger than it was, but it worked. They were fascinated. By this time it was getting really late because of the time change and everything, so we called it a night and walked back to the car.


Here's what the kids did while we were getting ready for dinner...and the next morning. Aliyah and Kate had fun playing in the cupboards in the bathroom. They are easily entertained. Xander liked playing in the blinds.


It was a fun trip...even if it was short. We haven't been on any type of vacation all year, so this was a great get-away. Thanks to Brit for getting the hotel! :)

Sand Hollow Swimming Pool

On the 6th (Saturday) we got to go to Sand Hollow swimming pool with our friends the Fenton's. Jace and Brit both have the same dentist and he was having a patient appreciation day or something to that effect. So, we got free swimming and food. The kids had a blast...especially out on the playground which was a "pirate ship." Jalee and Kyle came with us and I hope they had fun too. :)

update

I thought I'd give a little update on the kids.

Xander is walking around like a mad man and is SO much happier now that he can run around with his sister. He has finally figured out how to stand up without crawling over to the couch or a wall. That is so nice because he would whine every time he fell down. I guess he dreaded the crawl or something.
Xander really doesn't get into much. Everyone told me that boys are into everything. He likes to put stuff away. Aliyah is the one that is constantly pulling things out of cupboards or drawers so Xander really doesn't have to. He just plays with whatever she pulled out and then puts it away...sometimes.


Aliyah is two...in every aspect of the word. We've been dealing with fits for a while, but they seem to be getting worse instead of better. (Any advise would be lovely.)

For those of you who know she does sign language...she is now speaking quite a bit. If she has a lot to say it mostly is all jabber except for a few words she'll throw in at the end. It's funny. But today I actually heard her yell, "Daddy...done!" after she ate breakfast instead of throwing a fit in her high chair or throwing what's left of her food on the floor. Times like that I feel like we're getting somewhere.


Mostly we're just doing the same old thing. We love St. George. The weather is getting so nice. In the morning there is just the right amount of chill in the air and the days are cooling down too. I love it.
