Cotton Days & Culinary Food Festival

It's the Annual Cotton Days parade here in Washington.  Xander's preschool gets to participate in the parade, so he got to ride on the school's float.  He was pretty excited about it.

And the girls were excited about getting candy.  :)

After the parade we decided to go check out the Culinary Arts Festival that was happening in St. George.  A bunch of local food places came together and had some samples of their food you could try.  There were bounce houses and tight ropes and swing sets from Lifetime. And we happened upon a face painter just there to make kids happy.  But we waited in line over an hour and half for the kids to get their faces painted.  Not worth it.  However, the kids did enjoy it. 

The tight rope is a LOT harder than it looks.  The second you tried to move your foot the rope would move all over the place.

Such a long, fun day.  Look forward to next year.  :)

Independence Day

As always, we had Independence Day with my family.  You just can't pass up the Kaysville parade!  We went up to Vaughn and Judy Raymond's for the annual breakfast where we saw a bunch of my old neighbors from Fruit Heights.  Good times.  Then we headed down to the parade.

One thing that sucks about this parade is that it doesn't start until 11:00.  Seriously people...it's like a million degrees at 11.  And after that HUGE windstorm up there a few months ago most of the trees are gone from Main Street where we sit.  So, we had to bring some tents and umbrellas of our own.  NBD, I guess.

It was a good parade.  Long and hot, but we got a lot of candy and that's all that matters.  :)

I wanted to get a family picture before the kids went crazy and ruined clothes and napped and whatever.  It was the perfect time to try to get all the kids to be happy.  As you can see...

 Alright Taya is just NOT happy.  And neither is Aliyah.

So after that drama was over we had a nice lunch of steak and potatoes and frog eye salad...mmmmm.  Then my sweet parents got me an ice cream cake for my birthday.  :)  The kids helped blow out the candles.

The day was pretty much lazy after that.  We did end up going on a walk.  The neighborhood has changed so much since I moved that it's just weird to walk around it.  On our walk we went up high enough on the road that we could see a ton of fireworks.  The kids loved it.  AND we loved it because we didn't have to drive to the school, find a place to park, find a place to lay out a blanket, watch the fireworks for 20 minutes and fight the traffic coming home.  A win/win if I do say so myself.  :)

I bought some sparklers for the kids to do and they had been DYING to do them ever since.  They were so happy it was finally time.
